Who we are

This website (pipers-cove-resort.com) is an independent information page about Pipers Cove Resort, in Runaway Bay, Saint Ann, Jamaica. We are not the hotel and we do not manage it.

We take part in the Booking.com affiliate programme: when you book through the links on this site, the booking is handled entirely by Booking.com and we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you.

What data we collect

This site has no contact forms, no user registration and no comments section. We do not ask for or store your name, email address, phone number, identity documents or payment details.

The only data collected is what browsing generates automatically:

  • Technical and usage data: pages visited, time on page, device type, browser, operating system, approximate country or region, and which site you came from.
  • Your IP address, which Google Analytics processes in anonymised form.

None of this identifies you personally.

Cookies

Browsing this site may set the following cookies:

  • Necessary — they make the site work. They cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics (Google Analytics 4) — they tell us how many people visit the site and which sections they look at.
  • Affiliate (Booking.com) — set when you click a booking link, so Booking.com can recognise that you arrived from this site.
  • Third party — the GTranslate translator and embedded content (the Booking.com search box and map, Viator tours) may set their own cookies when they load.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, browse in private mode, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Blocking necessary cookies may stop parts of the site from working properly.

Who your data is shared with

We do not sell, rent or hand over information to anyone. The only third parties that receive data are the services that make the site work:

  • Google Ireland Ltd. (Google Analytics) — measuring site usage. Their policy
  • Booking.com B.V. — search box, map and booking process. Their policy
  • GTranslate — automatic translation of the site. Their policy
  • Viator / Tripadvisor — tours and activities. Their policy
  • Hostinger — website hosting and technical server logs. Their policy

Important: if you complete a booking, every detail you enter (name, contact, card) goes directly to Booking.com and falls under their privacy policy. We never see it, receive it or store it.

How long data is kept

Google Analytics data is kept for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically. Technical server logs are kept by the hosting provider for short periods.

Your rights

At any time you can:

  • Block or delete cookies from your browser.
  • Request access to, correction of or deletion of your data, or object to it being processed.
  • Lodge a complaint with the data protection authority that applies to you (in Jamaica, the Office of the Information Commissioner; in the European Union, your country’s supervisory authority).

Since this site stores no data that identifies you, to exercise rights over the information Booking.com or Google do collect you need to contact them directly.

Children

This site is not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect data about them.

Changes to this policy

If anything changes, we publish it on this page and update the date at the top.
